Fabienne Chapot and Sustainability

The Story

Meet Fabienne Chapot, the eponymous owner of this Amsterdam brand who from the outset in 2006 had the vision to brighten up our wardrobes. All of their prints are hand-drawn in house, often incorporating rich colours in feminine silhouettes. Designed by women for women.

But the good news does not stop there. As part of the Dutch Agreement on Sustainable Garment and Textiles, working conditions, climate change and animal welfare are all considered before garments are produced. Fabienne takes very seriously the fact that 10% of all carbon emissions and 20% of waste water are accounted for by the fashion industry

Her brand is also a member of the Waste2Wear group which has been enabled her to use GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton. The benefits of this are:

  • No chemicals or pesticides are used.
  • Soil depletion is prevented by using crop rotation.
  • Less water consumption

At Javelin we have been stunned by the quality of the Fabienne Chapot prints, many of which are made from RPET, recycled plastic bottles. Over the last few seasons we have been consistently won over with each collection as this brand goes from strength to strength and all this with such an impressive and growing sustainability record.
